Waberer's Plans Logistics Base in Debrecen
Listed Hungarian hauler Waberer's has announced plans to build a more than 20,000 sqm logistics base in Debrecen, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
In the announcement posted on the website of the Budapest Stock Exchange, Waberer's said its unit KDI Property had signed a pre-purchase agreement for a 57,000 sqm plot in an industrial zone in the city. The final sale and purchase agreement is subject to additional technical and financial conditions, it added.
KDI Property plans to finance the purchase of the land and the construction of the base with its own resources, external financing, and a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. KDI Property has received a non-binding offer for the grant which will be available after it is cleared by the government and contractual conditions are fulfilled.
"With the new warehouse, we will also be able to meet the logistics needs of both the major automotive projects under construction in the Debrecen area, as well as of their related suppliers," Waberer's chairman-CEO Zsolt Barna said.
Big plants by German carmaker BMW and Chinese battery manufacturer CATL are underway in Debrecen.
Barna noted that Waberer's expected to complete a 47,000 sqm logistics base in Ecser, on the outskirts of the capital, in H1 2024.
