Ukraine Grain Import Ban Termination Date 'Unacceptable' - AgMin

The September 15 expiration date for a ban on imports of Ukrainian grain to neighboring countries in the European Union is "unacceptable", Agriculture Minister István Nagy said at a meeting of his peers from Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia in Warsaw on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Nagy said the sides had signed an agreement "signaling that Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia will continue to cooperate on the matter of Ukrainian grain".
If the European Union doesn't extend the ban until at least December 31, Hungary "will use all means available to protect Hungarian farmers", he added.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said Poland would not open its borders to Ukrainian grain on September 15.
The ban was introduced after an exemption from customs duties and quotas for Ukrainian grain, intended to expedite deliveries to countries in the Middle East and Africa, caused a glut in markets in neighboring countries.
