Photon Energy Connects 6 MWp of Solar Farms in Romania

Amsterdam-based independent power producer Photon Energy NV said on Thursday it had finalized three solar PV projects totaling 6 MWp (megawatt-peak) near the city of Calafat, in Dolj County, southern Romania, and connected the plants to the grid.
The newly commissioned solar farms have enabled Photon to pass the symbolic milestone of 100 MWp and reach 103.6 MWp of combined generation capacity across its markets.
The Calafat plants take up over 10.2 hectares of greenfield land, now populated with about 10,800 solar panels mounted on single-axis trackers.
Photon expects them to upload up some 9.6 GWh of electricity per year to the grid of distribution company Distributie Energie Oltenia.
The output from the solar farms will be sold on the energy market on a merchant basis, with no government support or power purchase agreements attached to the projects, Photon said.
