Weather

Several heat records were broken in Hungary on Saturday, the national weather service HungaroMet said on its website. A daytime maximum of 27.6ºC (81.6ºF) was measured in Kelebia (170 km southeast of Budapest).

The previous record of 26.9ºC (80.4ºF) was registered in Szerep (190 km east), in eastern Hungary, in 1911, HungaroMet reported.

Meanwhile, the dawn temperature was also broken, with 15.8ºC (60.4ºF) recorded in Koroncó (130 km northwest of Budapest), in north-west Hungary, more than 1ºC more than the daily minimum temperature of 14.3ºC (57.7ºF) measured in Lágymányos in 2017.

In the capital's District XVIII, 25ºC (77ºF) was measured on Saturday, which is nearly 1ºC higher than the record daily high of 24.1ºC (75.3ºF) recorded in Budapest's Országút station in 1926.
