Magyar Cukor to Refine Around 900,000 Tonnes of Sugar Beet
Magyar Cukor, owned by Austria's Agrana, expects to refine about 900,000 tonnes of sugar beet this year, sales and marketing director Gergely Kovács said at the company's refinery in Kaposvár on Friday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Magyar Cukor partners have planted sugar beet on 13,651 hectares this year, an area 60% larger than last year, Kovács said.
Yields are expected to be over 60 tonnes per hectare with a crop that is average to good quality, he added.
The sugar beet harvest started on Saturday, the report notes.
