Hungary celebrated the 25th anniversary of its accession to NATO on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

In a speech in Tata (NW Hungary), Defence Minister Kristof Szalay-Bobrovniczky said Hungary's NATO membership had raised the quality of the country's security to another level. Hungary is an "acknowledged and appreciated" member of the alliance, he added.

He noted that Hungary had already complied with NATO's expectation for members' defense spending and raised its defense expenditures to 2% of GDP.

The Hungarian Defense Forces showcased their Gidran armored vehicles, Leopard 2A7HU third-generation tanks, and Gripen fighter jets ahead of the anniversary observation.
