Energy Minister Puts Paks II Completion Date at 2032
The construction of two more blocks at Hungary's Paks nuclear power plant could be completed by 2032, Minister of Energy Affairs Csaba Lantos said on public radio on Sunday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Lantos noted that nuclear power plants "take a long time to build".
The target date for putting the two new blocks online was earlier set at 2030.
The four existing blocks at Paks, with a combined nameplate capacity of 2,000 MW, account for half of electricity generation in Hungary.
Lantos told Kossuth Radio that Hungary's solar capacity would climb over 6,000 MW by 2030. He added that wind energy would be "of a supplementary nature" to that capacity.
