State-owned energy group MVM has acquired a 100 MW solar park in Kaposvár from China's Genertec International group, MVM said on Friday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
MVM's renewables unit, MVM Zöld Generáció, bought the solar park, one of the biggest in Hungary, from Genertec International group member CMC.
The acquisition will make a "remarkable contribution" to MVM's renewable energy production strategy and achieving decarbonization targets, MVM said.
The solar park generates an average of 150 GWh of electricity a year, enough to power over 35,000 homes.
