Hungary's 2nd Social Solar Power Plant Begins Operation

Hungary's second social solar power plant started operating on the outskirts of the village of Lakócsa (250 km southwest of Budapest), in Somogy County, according to the business daily Világgazdaság.

Under the government program called Felzárkózó Települések, solar power plants to support the poorest families will be built near 21 new villages in the coming months. T

he Hungarian Charity Service of Malta, which coordinates the program, recalled in a statement that three years ago, the first social solar power plant was put into operation in Tiszabő (135 km southeast of Budapest); income from the sale of electricity is used to support the winter heating of the poorest families.
